      • LONG BEACH CLASSIC HALF MARATHON

      • The Long Beach Classic Half Marathon starts and finishes at Marine Stadium in Long Beach, CA. The Half Marathon takes participants through Alamitos Bay, across the world-famous 2nd Street, through Belmont Shore, and along the Long Beach Coastline. The Half Marathon is one of the most scenic courses on the West Coast.

        • Start Line: In Marine Stadium at Boat Ramp

        • Straight on Paoli Way (Marine Stadium)

        • Left on 3rd Street

        • Left on Appian Way

        • U-turn at Long Beach Yacht Club

        • Left on Bayshore Ave

        • Cross 2nd Street

        • Left on 54th Street

        • Cross over Ocean Blvd

        • Enter Beach Path

        • U-Turn at 8th Place

        • Cross over Ocean Blvd

        • Right on Bayshore Ave

        • Cross 2nd Street

        • Right on Appian Way

        • U-Turn at Long Beach Yacht Club

        • Right on 3rd Street

        • Right on Paoli Way (Marine Stadium)

        • Finish Line: In Marine Stadium at Boat Ramp

        Half Marathon Start Line

        All participants are required to follow standard race etiquette and position themselves at the start according to expected race pace.  The fastest participants should go to the front, followed by progressively slower-paced participants.  Runners with strollers are required to start in the back of the pack. The start line is located on Appian Way and Bayshore.  Half Marathon runners will be wearing Blue Bibs and 5K will be wearing Yellow Bibs.

        Half Marathon Pace Teams

        A Snail’s Pace Running Club will be handling the pace groups for the half marathon participants. The Half Marathon pace groups are 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20 and 2:30.  Each group will be led by an experienced leader who will run at a steady pace to help participants complete the half marathon at a particular time.  Both pace teams are free for all registered participants, and sign-up lists will be available at the Health and Fitness Expo.

        Course Time Limit

        The overall time limit for the course is 3.5 hours. Please note that the course will have a rolling
        reopening that will be strictly enforced by the Long Beach Police Department. Participants will
        be required to pass certain points on course by a specific time or they will have the option to
        either be a pedestrian and obey all traffic laws or be moved up on course by the Sweeper Truck.
        Participants must be past (mile 8.25) 2nd Street and Bayshore Ave by 9:00am or they will be instructed to
        obey all traffic lights.

        Water Stations

        There will be water stations on-course approximately every mile to mile and a half beginning at Mile 1 at the following mile locations: 1/8.5/10, 2.5/7.5, 3.5/6.5, 4.5/5.5. 11/12. Water Stations will be supplied with cups of water.  Each station will have hand sanitizer stations before and after.

        Mile Markers

        Every mile will be marked with a large marker as shown below. For the non-GPS runners, these will be perfect to keep track of your race pace.
